Production History (Autumn 2017 – Summer 2026)
Since Autumn 2017, the programme has delivered a wide-ranging and ambitious schedule of productions, spanning classical theatre, contemporary works, musical theatre, and original student writing. The body of work reflects both creative consistency and a growing spirit of collaboration.
2017–2019: Establishing a Strong Foundation
The early years focused on well-known classics and ensemble pieces, including Oliver!, The Importance of Being Earnest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Treasure Island, all directed by CSC.
This period also introduced collaborative directing and new writing, with The Customer’s Always Wrong (Barney Sayburn) and Lockdown (Alfie Nicol), alongside an ambitious adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac (CSC). The era concluded with Joseph, continuing the programme’s engagement with musical theatre.
2020–2021: Innovation During Disruption
The COVID-19 pandemic prompted a shift in approach. While Coram Boy was unfortunately cancelled, the programme adapted quickly with Shakespeare in Pieces, a creatively conceived response to restrictions.
The Trinity Play Premieres showcased original student writing, featuring works by Robert Wilding, Will Hardy, and Lukas Cobb.
During lockdown, productions moved online with Animal Farm and Fury, maintaining creative momentum. A return to live performance was marked by Shrek in Autumn 2021.
2022–2024: Expansion and Collaboration
This period saw increasing diversity in repertoire and leadership. Productions included Medea (LPR), The Seesaw Tree (CSC with James Bradburn), and Shakespeare in Love.
The programme continued to balance literary adaptations and large-scale productions, including Holes, Lord of the Flies, The Wizard of Oz, and After Life.
By 2024, productions such as James and the Giant Peach (SCD) and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (CSC with Dhyan Ruparel) reflected a strong emphasis on imaginative staging and collaboration.
2025–2026: Continued Ambition
Recent productions highlight sustained ambition and variety, from Private Peaceful and Alice to the musical Guys and Dolls.
The programme continues to embrace both classic and original work, with Blue Stockings and the new piece Prometheus (written and directed by SCD) demonstrating an ongoing commitment to challenging and inventive theatre-making.
