When Croydon Met the Avant-Garde: The Girls’ Choir and Caroline Polachek

It is a rare school choir that can transition seamlessly from Evensong to sharing a stage with an international pop icon. In October 2021, five members of the Trinity Girls’ Choir did exactly that.

 

Following a professional recording session in the school’s Recital Hall for her hit single Billions, American alt-pop superstar Caroline Polachek invited the students to join her live on stage. The venue was nothing less than London’s legendary Roundhouse.

 

Performing to a sold-out, ecstatic post-lockdown crowd, four of the five girls provided the ethereal, choral backing vocals that are a hallmark of Polachek’s sound. It was a night that perfectly encapsulated the modern Trinity Music experience: rigorous professional standards, diverse musical styles, and opportunities that most young musicians can only dream of.
