Tony Anderson arrived in 1962 from Rutlish Grammar School, where he knows he must have coincided with John Major, even if he has no memory of him. He was thus one of the last three 'survivors' from the school's North End days, alongside Dennis Blandford, a veteran from 1955, and David Squibb, who joined in 1964. The move to the present site, where Tony would later take on so much responsibility, happened in 1965.
