BBC Question Time comes to Trinity

BBC Question Time was recorded at Trinity School in Croydon on Thursday, 19th March 2015. Filmed just seven weeks before the 2015 General Election, it featured a high-profile political panel debating the economy, welfare, and local issues in the marginal seat of Croydon Central. On the panel were:

Sajid Javid, Conservative culture secretary

Chuka Umunna Labour Shadow business secretary

Shirley Williams, Liberal Democrat peer

Dia Chakravarty, TaxPayers' Alliance political director

Will Self, novelist and broadcaster

Hosted by David Dimbleby.

Twenty Politics students and keen debaters from Trinity School took part in the pre-show soundcheck. Five students were selected to sit in the "hot seats" on the panel, where they faced direct and challenging questions from David Dimbleby.

Headmaster Mark Bishop commented: "David Dimbleby didn't hold back when questioning our students! They performed with great poise."

Other students took part in the sound check and technical set-up. They were given a fascinating tour by the programme director, Rob Hopkin, a great opportunity for them to ask about the practical aspects of producing a television show. Rob Hopkin said afterwards, "Trinity pupils asked some of the best questions from any school we have ever visited. It was a pleasure to work with them."
