Inquiring minds A group of Upper Sixth Formers put their burning questions to Mr Kennedy

What are your first impressions of Trinity?

Warm, unpretentious, ambitious, energetic, excellent.

What A levels did you do?

I studied Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Music.

What sports do you enjoy?

I love all sports, and play or watch whenever I can, but rugby, tennis and golf are my favourites. The Olympics are also a highlight for my family – they always inspire.

What football team do you support?

I support Liverpool and Scotland – and they used to be very closely linked (I am 100 per cent Scottish, so can’t get too upset when England lose).

Do you have a phobia?

Not a phobia as such, but I think my greatest fear is not making the most of the opportunities that I am given. Why did you want to be a headmaster? Working with young people – and with others who love doing the same – is very energising and rewarding. I did not know initially whether I would want to be a Headmaster, particularly as I love teaching, but I did reach a point where I realised it was the job I really wanted to do – and I can still teach in this role.

How are you going to change the school for the better?

The school is in great shape but we will keep working at the key things: pupils feeling they belong and are supported, making our teaching and learning as inspiring and challenging as it can be, offering the broadest possible range of opportunities, and doing our best prepare students for life beyond school, as that will keep changing. I think that the most interesting answers to this question will come from listening to pupils, staff and parents over the course of this year.

What is your religious background?

I grew up in a family with Christian parents, and I have chosen that faith as well.

Did you vote for Brexit?

No – I am trying hard to see some positives in what is going to happen!

What animal would you be?

I would be anything that can fly.

What makes you happy?

Doing something that is really worthwhile, alongside people who love doing the same.
